Question : HP, Pavilion, DV9548ca, XP downgrade; video drivers won't install

After downgrading to XP Pro, the video drivers will not install. I have tried the current nVidia gForce 8600m drivers and a few older versions with no luck. The chipset drivers are installed and shows no errors in the device manager except the VGA controller.

Answer : HP, Pavilion, DV9548ca, XP downgrade; video drivers won't install

Directly from HP:
"If you have an HP Pavilion or Compaq Presario consumer notebook PC that shipped with Windows Vista, you should not attempt to downgrade to Windows XP. Changing the operating system (OS) will cause severe operational problems. Many of the components, such as sound, video, graphics, network connectivity, drives, or other devices and peripherals, may have limited functionality, or may not work at all."

If your machine shipped with Vista Business or Ultimate, you can try getting an XP downgrade CD from HP.

You could also try using a modified driver for your video card. Look at
