Question : Intranet to be build using Sharepoint - requirements gathering
|
|
I've been assigned the role of requirements gathering for our soon to be developed Intranet. We are a small facitliy with only a few hundred employees. We plan on using Sharepoint 2007 and Sharepoint services 3.0 for the base intranet and going from there. I am a system admin for our company.
I need a good way to get people's input and ideas on what they might want on the intranet. What I am looking for is some sort of template on requirements gathering for an intranet type project. Does anyone have such a document and or know where I can find a general requirements gathering template?
As you can tell we are at the early phase of development. Our IT team consists of me (Sys Admin), IT Manager (Programming skills), and 2nd and 3rd shift Sys Admins. So we don't have alot of resources to throw into the developement of a large intranet. That's why Sharepoint appealed to us. If anyone wants to share their experiences with developing an intranet that would be great.

I just finished a class using Sharepoint to create a portal site. Sharepoint 2003 was our monster and yet easy to use. Once you understood the concepts.
Make a primary top-level site, then add sub-sites that link to the main site. Sounds kinda like a web-page.
The nice thing about MS is that they have lots of templates that can give you ideas on what you may want to develop. Here is the link for templates in the Services 3.0 arena.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/windowsserver/sharepoint/wssapps/templates/default.mspx
Hope this helps a bit. They have a lot of add-ons (Web-Parts I think they are called) that can add a lot of functionality.
