Question : Outlook 2007 - fails to open correctly

Im running Outlook 2007 ( and Office 2007) on Asus eeepc 900 with Windows XP home edition 2002, S/Pack 3. It was running fine BUT now when I try to open it I get the error message " Outlook failed to start correcty last time do you want to start  Outllook in Safe mode?"  If I accept all I get is another error message which says "Microsoft Offfice Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close etc" .

I then get asked if I want to sart "detect and Repair" - if I do the Windows Installer runs, followed by "configuring Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007" - and when that says it has been completed successfully, I still cant get into Outlook and  then the whole cycle starts again.  I can access and use all other Office programmes.

If I can help it I  dont want to have to reinstall Office  via my external drive as it takes forever and I have lots of stuff in Outlook that I want/need to keep. Could it be a registry key problem? I am running  Uniblue software which checks for Registry errors every time I start the Asus and fisies them.... Help!!! :)

Answer : Outlook 2007 - fails to open correctly

Lets see if it is a problem within your profile by creating a new profile and seeing if it works with it:

Open Control Panel
Double Click on 'Mail'
Click Show Profiles
Click Add.. and create a new profile with a new name and details
Now choose the radial to allow it choose which profile to use (DO NOT touch your existing profile as we don't want to lose any of it)

Now open Outlook on the new profile and see if it works or not.

This will limit it down to see whether we have to fix your outlook profile or the program itself.
