Question : Probelms with Exchange - cannot send or receive e-mail.. Appears to be LDAP issues

Running SBS 2003 SP2
I have hundreds of critical errors in my logs since last night - summary based on last occurrences are:-
Source MSExchangeDSAccess Event ID 2049
ProcessINETINFO.EXE (PID=3096). An asynchronous LDAP call failed. Server=server1.OurDomain.com Error code =8007045d. Base DN=,Filter=(ProxyAddresses=smtp:seg@ourdomain.com), Scope=2.

DSACCESS returned an error Ox80004005 on DS Notification. Microsoft Exchange System Attendant will re-set DS notification later.

It looks as if your global catalog has quit working. Go to the Active Directory Sites and Services snap-in> Expand Sites, Default-First-Site-Name, Servers. Select your server and go to the NTDS Settings, right click and choose Properties. Check the Global Catalog box. This should allow GC to work. Also if you have enabled the Windows Firewall, make sure ports 389 (LDAP) and 3268 (Global catalog) are open.
