I am having problems printing in an Okidata Microdyne 420 printer using Red Hat Linux 4.5. Fonts get distorted/changed even when printing from Command line. We tested printer attached to Windows PC and works fine. For some reason, Linux is changing fonts.

Go into your /etc/cups/whateverprinteryouraremodifying.ppd
open it up in a editor, go down to the bottom there should be a line called: DefaultFont: Courier
change that to: DefaultFont: Times
test, if that doesn't do the result you want try: DefaultFont: Helvetica
