Question : Printing Problem in IE 6.0 - Corrupted Print jobs - Spanning Many Pages
|
|
I have a computer running WinXP Pro - SP2 - with internet explorer 6.0.
The problem is with printing. How can I best describe this??? - When the computer user prints, the print job seems to SPAN many pages as if the print job overflows the canvas of a single page and becomes two to three pages wide and MANY MANY pages long. Even a small print job can quickly become 15-20 pages. For example, I printed the main google page which would normally be just a single page printout - But here is the result: http://www.meridiancomputers.com/ieprintjob.pdf
(obviously a corrupted print job - it is consistent, this problem always occurs and happens from printing anything within IE - all other printing from windows applications to the printer(s) work just fine)
I have attempted the following repairs, all without success: 1. Reloaded Latest Printer Drivers 2. Tried printing to three different printers including PDF. 3. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378 4. Reinstall XP SP2 5. Reinstall IE6 by changing IsInstalled Registry Key to zero and re-running IE6SETUP.EXE 6. Right clicked IE.INF and select INSTALL option
The user of this computer does not want to upgrade to IE7 or firefox, they want to remain in IE6. But I did install firefox so the user can print for now and firefox is working.
Anyone have any ideas how to repair this without totally re-installing the operating system?
Thanks much, Rick

Before wiping, have you tried creating a new user profile and trying a print from them? Worth a shot before wiping and starting over.
