Can anyone please tell me or guide me to certain links where I can find something related to the best practices for implementing an FTP server keeping in mind the security side of the subject & also please tell me which windows platform is best for deploying this.

Answer : BEST PRACTICES FOR DEPLOYING FTP

A server edition of Windows would probably be amongst the better suited for built in security. However, any version of Windows could be used for this. Ideally, you want to require authentication AND have the machine acting as a server behind a firewall to keep as many communication ports as possible closed.
