Question : Smartphones & Outlook

I have several users that want to use a smartphone/blackberry to access their outlook email, contacts,  personal calendar and public calendar. The only way for us to access email currently is when they are connected to our LAN which has a windows 2003 exchange server.

What needs to be in place on our network for them to get their outlook info on their phones when they are on the road? Second which smartphones/blackberries should we be considering?

Answer : Smartphones & Outlook

First thing you want to do is set up OMA on your Exchange server.  Go to System Manger > Mobile Services > Enable Outlook Mobile access

I would enable everything in that box.

Then on the blackberry or whatever phone, set up the email settings on that phone.  Your Exchange server will have to be public for outside users to hit it.  Set it up to hit your mail domain such as:  mail.domain.com.

Some Blackberrys require you to set it up via the Web.  But most you can set up in Email Setup on the phone.
