No, I don't beleive it worked after I disabled everthing ... I believe I tried it with a different login first.
I continued to search for a solution and using "HijackThis" ... it seems there were some trojans:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsnpoem\video.dll - Deleted
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsnpoem\audio.dll - Deleted
Folder C:\Documents and Settings\Gordon\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\#w*w.redtube.com - Removed
There may have been others it found and deleted???
Annyway, it appears to be fixed and McAfee is running with all enabled .... thanks for your suggestions ... it really helped to narrow it down.
