Question : Temp Files Appearing On my Desktop Like A Rash
|
|
Suddenly a rash of temp files is all over my desktop, and I can't get rid of them. (I am a writer and have numerous manuscripts icon-created on the desktop for easy retrieval-- is that part of my problem?) Anyone? Help! Thanks, Larry W. (Wayno) Phillips
I should probably add the following: These temp files look like word files. (I have opened them and they are duplicates of my manuscripts). I can delete them of course off the desktop, but it is an endless process. I can't remember what I was doing when they first appeared. As I say, they are mostly (and probably all) clones of Word manuscript files which I have put shortcuts to on my desktop for easy access. As soon as I start using one of these Word files/Icons on my desktop and working on it, the others start to appear and multiply on the desktop. Upon turning off the machine and rebooting, sometimes they go away, sometimes they are all still there when I turn it on again. I don't use MS Office-- just MS Word. I have also tried creating a folder on the desktop to hold all the Manuscripts and moved them all there, and then deleted all the temp files. To no avail-- (Unless I did this wrong, always a possibility).
Thanks for any help, Larry W. (Wayno) Phillips

no, actually that location is right enough !!
now tell me, do these duplicate files look like transparent icons, means like hidden files look ?? if Yes then turn off the Show Hidden Files feature in Explorer>Tools>Folder Options>View and now check if they are still showing ??
