Question : Remote Access (VPN) Problem
|
|
This problem has been seen several times before, but I haven't found a good solution yet - the following link describes the issue:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Windows_Server_2003/Q_21258543.html
It's a SBS2003 Standard Edition with one NIC and SP1 installed. I installed some updates last night and now no-one can connect remotely via a PPTP VPN. I tried reconfiguring the Remote Access Wizard, but it hangs at the end and gives the following error, as decribed in the link above:
*** Running IExpress to build the package returned ERROR 80004005 *** ERROR: Cannot delete temp directory CMP2.tmp Specifying error location (in CMAK) returned OK *** CRRASCommit::CommitCMAK returned ERROR 80004005 *** CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80004005
I have a strong suspcion that this is linked to DNS or DHCP - my users can connect via PPTP and authenticate, but are not allocated a valid IP address.
Remote Desktop connections and OWA are both fine.
Please note that this *was* working, so has nothing to do with the router or port-forwarding etc.
Any pointers greatly appreciated!

Yes, reinstall SBS SP1 again... never any harm in doing that.
Be sure to follow this guide: http://sbsurl.com/sp1
