Question : dtfile not starting on HP-UX
|
|
Hi,
our users would like to run dtfile on a HP-UX 11.00 machine. But the graphical interface is not displayed when executing #dtfile. The command line doesn't return until a control-c. It's not a X problem: xclock etc. works fine, only dtfile doesn't work. I've tried this on another 11.00 and a 11.11 machine and it doesn't work either. I've tried it on a Sol7 machine: it doesn't work either, but on that server it does work with the "-standalone" option. That's also how we get dtpad to work on the HPUX11.00 machine: "dtpad -standAlone", but this option is not available for dtfile on the HP-UX OS's... We guess it has smth to do with ToolTalk, but it's not clear what or how.
Anyone ever had this problem?
Thanks.

Ah, I see. Thanks for explaining, makes it easier to try duplicate your problem.
I'm inklined to beleive the problem lies in the TT direction (obviously:-). I'm thinking that you might be using ssh tunneling for X, but that the dtcommands that use this (and looks like they're coming from localhost don't have the correct ttauth setting. You should perhaps try merging your "CDE servers" ttauth cookie(s) into the ssh-clients .TTauthority file. Yes, this is a pain, but it might help you be able to run tooltalk-enabled programs like dtfile.
