Question : Cyclical Error prevents me from copying DVD film data

Hello,

I use various programs like DVD Dencrypter or DVD Shrink to copy DVD rentals. HOwever, sometimes i get DVD's that play fine but when I try to copy them, the application eventually displays a "cyclical error" that I won't recover from (usually in middle of copying; some data is copied fine but not the rest). This is not due to my drive because I use two different dvd drives and not due to security measures of the DVD's, since the copying process goes fine halfway through. I clean the DVD's with damp cloth and sometimes that solves the problem but usaully not.

Is there a program out there smart enough to get around the cyclical error? The data is there obviously. It plays either perfectly or perhaps a couple of freezes here and there. But somehow copying the data to HD requires a program smart enough to be able to go and back and forth and get around the cyclical errors with problem disks.

Do you know of such a program or other measure to get around cyclical errors?

The errors you are getting are probab;y caused by the disk's copy protection system. You can try using a "PSL2" file with DVD Decrypter to bypass this copy protection:
