Question : Exchange 5.5 MTA - error 2140: An internal windows NT error occurred
MTA will not start. Event viewer states:
The MTA is terminating because the disk where MTADATA is located has less than 10MB of space, or an error occurred while trying to check for free space on the disk. If disk space is low, free up some disk space and restart the MTA. NT Error code returned: 0 (non-zero indicates an error while checking for free space) [BASE IL MAIN BASE 1] (16)
There is 303MB available on C: (where mtadata is stored). Reboot didn't help.
MTACHECK reports all is well.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ed
Answer : Exchange 5.5 MTA - error 2140: An internal windows NT error occurred
Hi edbreen,
This Articles are a great guide for troubleshooting MTA related problems.
In the article 162385, I would first check step 1 and step 3 are the most common I have seen. You already follow step 1, maybe you can move the page file to another partition to free some more space and later think about moving the exchange services to another partition.
