Question : delay when typing in Outlook 2007

I have a significant delay when typing emails in Outlook 2007.  Sometimes I will type 3 or 4 words before they will appear on the screen.  I do not see the same delay when typing in any other program on my computer - only Outlook 2007 has an issue.  I've researched the issue, and have tried the following suggestions with no luck:
- switch to Rich Text instead of HTML format for email (see same delay with rich text and even plain text)
- remove all sites from Restricted Zone in Internet Explorer (I don't have any sites in that zone)

Here is my relevant configuration: XP Pro, Outlook 2007, IE7

An addin may be interfering. In Outlook, temporarily disable all your addins.  Go to Tools > Trust Center > Add-Ins and disable the addins.
