Question : How do I delete a Mailbox in Exchange 2003
|
|
Hi, I have a Windows 2003 Network with Exchange 2003. I have a user which has a mailbox. I deleted that user (And specified to delete the mailbox as well) but the mailbox remains into the storage group in the system manager. Even if I run the cleanup agent there's no way of purging that mailbox.
The question is: Is there a way to force the deletion of a mailbox in Exhange 2003? How do I get to do that?
Thanks Martin Ouimet

What you have done should allow the mailbox to be deleted. How long did you leave it between deleting the user and trying to purge the mailbox? It can take a little while for the active directory to update that the account has been deleted.
The only other thing I can suggest is to reboot the server. Anything that is holding on to the mailbox will then be released.
Have you got any options set about not purging mailboxes until a backup is complete?
Simon.
