Question : Outlook 2K locked up - can't send
|
|
Outlook 2K locked up on me after trying to send an email to a recipient. The content of that email was a garbled mess of junk that I wanted him to see from a Word file (Office 97) that he sent to me. I merely cut and pasted a page worth of it, pasted into a new email and sent it. After that time Outlook 2K would not send any mail and the offending email is still stuck in the out folder. What is interesting is that the file MAPISP32.dll is consuming 98-99% of the CPU's time, even after closing Outlook down (with taskmanager)
I am using Win2K beta 3 (waiting for local shop to get my real Win2K!) AMD K6-3/450, 128Mb RAM etc.
Using the repair Outlook installation option in Win2K install section did not make any difference.
Is there a possibility that MAPISP32.dll is damaged and that occurred because of strange content of the particular email? Is replacing that file an option? I noticed that reinstalling MS products (in another question/problem) will not replace a faulty file. Even if I did replace this file, and started Outlook 2K again would that not do damage to the file again?
Could I find a way to delete that outgoing email? Trying to delete it in Outlook results in message "Mapi Spooler has already begun transmitting this message"
Any help or suggestions welcomed.

You might want to have a look at this MS KB article, it may help: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q195/9/22.asp
You can also get this article by sending an E-mail with a subject of "Q195922" (without the quotes) to [email protected].
