Question : shell32.dll compatible with win98

just wondering if the shell32.dll file on win2000 would be compatible with win98 as there's a richer variety of icons to choose from.  they are, of course, different versions and i don't wnat to have my system nott boot.

Doubtful.  If you wanted to use the icons, I'd suggest copying 98's file and renaming the file - something to the effect of "shell324icons.dll" - thus it will not replace things but you can make the icons available (alternatively, while I'm not really a programmer, you should be able to "extract" the icons and put them into another file, conserving the space.
