Additional links here and updates as well as the link below which provides you with download sites for the newer versions of software.  As originally given, the Efax link had QAs anf FAQs, and your problem appears to have been resolved, but you failed to return here to update the issue.  I will therefore supply you with the additional information as of today, the link and post this as an answer.  Listening further, if more help is needed.

Download
eFax Plus users using Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME, and NT, please download eFax Messenger Plus. It's a 3 MB software application which allows you to view, send and annotate faxes. You can also listen to voicemail and record voice annotations. The download is available during the signup process.
Macintosh users please download eFax Messenger. This software application offers the ability to view faxes and listen to voicemail.

This proprietary software allows us to compress faxes and voicemail to a much smaller size for faster delivery to and from your email application.
 

 
System Requirements
• An active email account with the ability to send and receive email attachments.
• PC: You need to be running Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows NT 3.5, or Windows NT 4. To play voicemail, you will need a sound card and speakers installed.
• Macintosh: You need to use a PowerPC running MacOS version 7.5 or above to view faxes and listen to voicemail. You can send faxes via email or web.
