Windows Explorer, My Computer and links to folders, plus actual folders on my desktop. Between all of these, something has 'infected' my system and is causing me major problems.
If I double-click the 'My Computer' icon on my desktop, or select it from the Start menu, I get a 'Data Execution Prevention' error reported from Windows Explorer. Once I get the message, any attempts to open 'My Computer' results in apparently nothing happening. If I open Windows Explorer (either from the Start > All Programs > Accessories > Windows Explorer, or from a shortcut I have on my QuickStart menu, everthing seems to work okay.
If I try to do a search of any drive or folder, I get the error.
Anyone know how I can clean this up without reinstalling Windows?
I am running XP Pro SP2.
