Question : Proper DNS/MX settings for Exchange server in SBS2003
|
|
Hello, I am in the planning stages of moving my NT Domain to SBS2003 and have question regarding DNS/MX records and our new setup and rusty on some DNS/MX stuff.
A little background on our current setup: Currently we use a separate exchange (5.5) box that goes through a NT proxy server. On the Exchange server in the TCP/IP > DNS settings under Host it says "xx1" and under domain, it says "nid.net". We use an outside source that filters spam and also backups our mail in case our server goes down so our domain registrar has all mail directed to go to that outside source and then they forward it to us (xx1.nid.net). So essentially our current mail server dns is "xx1.nid.net" My question is where do I enter xx1.nid.net when setting up sbs2003 so that mail transition is smooth. My new server will already have all mailboxes setup.

The SSL part is what your missing. Once you run your CEICW wizard you will need to open IIS. Right click on the default website and generate your cert.txt file. Here is an instruction from GoDaddy. Pretty easy to follow.
http://products.secureserver.net/products/pki/actioncasts/non_hosted/index.html
Once you get the email from GoDaddy you will then need to import the CERT file into IIS. The directions walk you through every step of the way. Very simple!
