Question : CD drivers won't open files.

I have two CD drives. When I insert a CD in either one my computer shows it recognizes the CD is there but won't open the files. Device Manager shows everything is installed and working fine. Any ideas? PS I recently had some issues uninstalling office 2003 and also trying to install and uninstall new office 2007 trial. Yes I'm painfully aware one should NEVER participate in Microsoft beta's or trials.

Answer : CD drivers won't open files.

sounds like you might have a system conflict with the drives.
check your jumper settings on them and make sure they are set for master and slave respectively.
If one different controllers, make sure there is no conflict with the other device on that controller ... again master/slave jumpers.
A lot of drives/systems support cable select ... if this is what you are set for ... change it ... force the assignment using the jumpers.
If this still does not work ... try running the OS install again ... go to the full install option and then select repair when it finds a version already installed ... if you have corrupt drivers or something off in the registry this should resolve it.
