Question : No Free Memory Error & copying bulk pictures to clip board
|
|
After copying some pictures to the clipboard I am receiving the following message when I try to click on anything: "There is not enough memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again." To give you a little more background on when and how this began to happen: I had a about 2000 pictures totalling about 225 mb inside many various sub-folders of my "My Pictures" folder. I wanted to bring all of the pictures into one folder. So, I did a search for all files containing .jpg inside of the My Pictures folder. It came up with all the pictures and then I hit "Select-all" and copied all of the pictures to my clip board. I then created another folder to paste them into, but upon pasting them into the folder, nothing happened. I then tried to copy less pictures at one time figuring there might be some limit on size or quantity that I was breaching. I noted that I was only able to copy 5 or 10 pictures at a time and that it would take a long time to keep copying a few here and a few there until I had all of the pictures copied over. I then noted that I could not open any applications due to the error mentioned above. I had to re-boot in order to clear the memory. I guess my question is in two parts. 1. Am I doing something wrong when attempting to get all of the pictures from the various folders copied into one folder? Is there an easier way? Are there limits to size or quantity for items copied to the clipboard? 2. What is causing the memory error and how can I clear my memory without having to re-boot?

My Question: How much RAM do you have installed?
Your Answer: The amount of data a that can be placed on the clipboard depends on the amount of free memory available. Programs running share the available memory with the clipboard. The less programs running the more data that you can store on the clipboard. To see the contents of your clipboard: Start > Run > type clipbrd.
To clear the clipboard: Edit menu > Delete or press the Delete button. or Search for clipbrd.exe.
Can't find it? 1) Create a shortcut on the desktop (right-click an empty space, choose new and then shortcut) 2) Type the following as the location of the item: %windir%\system32\clipbrd.exe 3) Click next and then finish, double click the new icon.
