Question : Convert AVI to MPG

Hi, I am trying to convert AVI files to MPG files so I can make VCDs for my DVD player.
I cant find the right software to use.
I used one piece of software and after about 24 hours it was complete, but the movie played about one frame per second (the sound was fine).
Can you find some software which can conver the to MPG or why its not converting properly.

The AVI files have these Properties:

Bits per pixel = 24
Total video frames = 190147
Length = 7605 sec
Audio Channels = 2
Sample rate = 48.000 KHz, bits per samle = 16

I also heard something about niw DivX movies dont convert because of some bug in the DivX Codec, but that is all I know.

Any Help Would Be Great.

Answer : Convert AVI to MPG

The VCD standard sets the frame size very specifically at 353 x288 (PAL).

You can use the Clip filter to select the important region (normally the centre) of the frame in TMPGEnc.

This will mean that you lose the edges of the frame, but if you scrub through the timeline, you will be able to make sure you don't lose anything important (if you type "crop" into the help system in TMPGEnc you'll find it).

Hope this helps
