Question : REBUILD SQL CLUSTER NODE

Hi,

I am trying to rebuild a SQL 2000 Cluster node in an active/passive configuration. On the active node I have SQL 2000 SP4 and it`s working fine.
I have successfully installed SQL Server 2000 on the passive node and now I have hard times installing SP4.

I have tried to installed and I am prompted with some errors:
setup cannot verify/grant logon as service right to the SQL Server service logon account: 5000 => I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905286, but couldn`t see any update.
One more thing I`ve tried was to delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Need_sp_key" as found in other articles, but although after that the setup went a couple of stept further it failed again.

thx 4 help

Answer : REBUILD SQL CLUSTER NODE

The following seems to identify exactly the same issue you have.

I think you should have first patched SQL prior to adding the newely instaled os/sql as a node in a cluster.
