Hot standby - Mirror Activator - everything is mirrored, so the backup server has always the same data as primary
Warm standby - Replication Server - changes are sent to backup server but there's some lag - backup server may have "older" data than primary
Cold standby - just second ASE server and good backup plan. So if the primary dies, you can start backup server and restore from backups
