Question : Migrating user, computer accts user profiles from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003 domain using ADMT 3.0
|
|
I want to migrate all user accts, computer accts, and desktop profiles which includes drive mappings over from a Windows 2000 domain which is hosted by a Windows 2003 server to another Windows 2003 domain using ADMT 3.0 version. Please direct me to any good docs or if you have any inside tips, please let me know. Thanks much.

Download ADMT, install it and read all the docs very carefully. If you have not used ADMT before I would strongly suggest you try it out in a test environment. Planning and testing is key to success here.
Migration of groups and users is fairly easy, but computer accounts require a bit more thought. If you are migration XP Pro SP2 PCs, it's worth setting up group policies in the source and destination domains that disable the firewall and enable remote access so the migration wizard can complete the translation process.
If you assign any software to computers using Group Policy then it will be reinstalled when the PCs restart on the new domain.
