Question : win2k3 Group policy computer configurations not applied
|
|
Windows server 2003 Group Policy. I tried to push down computer configuration policies but it seems that only user configurations are pushed down and computer configurations did not take effect to any of my clients. I tried to create new group policies doing only computer configurations but there is no chance of it. Checked on my security filtering. "already selected Computer name and user name"

Check that your GPOs are linked to OUs that contain computer accounts.
Some computer based GP settings take several reboots to take effect. This is because XP does not wait for the network to start before allowing you to log on. There is a computer GP setting which can force XP to wait for the network at every boot which makes it more responsive to GP settings.
As canali suggests, use GPRESULT, or the Group Policy Modelling wizard (in Group Policy Management Console) to find out which policies will be applied. This enables you to see if you have got everything in the right place.
If you don't have Group Policy Management Console, then download it from here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0a6d4c24-8cbd-4b35-9272-dd3cbfc81887&displaylang=en)
