Question : Windows Server 2003 Setup Restart Loop
|
|
We are attempting to install an OEM version of Windows Server 2003 Standard on a SuperMicro 5033C-T with a P4SCT+II Motherboard, 1GB RAM, 2 Maxtor DiamondMax 10 160GB HDs configured for RAID 1 via the Embedded Adaptec SATA Raid Controller. Everything appears to load fine during the setup all the way through the product code entry and the setup message of 'configuring network', but then with about 34~22 minutes left in the setup process, the system restarts and I do not know why. I believe all of my hardware is good, but am not certain to verify or if that is where the problem lies. Have used EE for years, this is my first posted question... appreciate everyone's help. This system is supposed to be operational by Friday.

Answer : Windows Server 2003 Setup Restart Loop

looks like a hardware problem
try to run the setup with a single ram module (if you have 2) to see if it is broken try to disable devices in bios (NIC's if it fails on installing network)
be sure the pc is not overheating and that you plugged all the PSU cables to the mainboard
download maxtor hard drive tools - maxblast to check your hard drive(s) for errors
try to use another driver for the embeded sata raid controller
