Question : new windows mobile 6 device can't sync to exchange wireless or through usb desktop
|
|
I've tried pretty much everything short of reloading Microsoft Exchange. We are running Windows 2003 server with exchange 2007. I got a brand new windows mobile 6 device and am trying to setup activesync to sync up with exchange. I installed the root certificate onto the mobile device and got an error - support code 0x85010017, your server is unavailable; please try again later. Well it's definitely later and still not working. Server's performance is fine - nothing to indicate that it's "busy" doing anything. I tried rebooting server, checked all IIS permissions, checked event logs, IIS logs, nothing out of the norm. My user account has the activesync policy applied in exchange. Please help me avoid having to reinstall Exchange!

Ok, I didn't realize you were running Exchange 2007. The issue with Forms based authentication is not present in this version of Exchange. You can still troubleshoot the permissions on the Activesync virtual directory by follwing steps here: http://www.amset.info/exchange/mobile-eastrouble.asp
Here is Microsoft's guide to deploying ActiveSync in Exchange 2007, make sure you have followed best practices here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995962(EXCHG.80).aspx
Also, here is the information on configuring authentication for Exchange ActiveSync in version 2007: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb430770(EXCHG.80).aspx
