Question : SecPol on XP machine that I removed from Domain to workgroup

Hello.

I have a personal computer that I took into work for a period of time (due to some personal applicaitons that they did not have licenses for) and joined their domain (shhhh).

I have since taken it home, and removed it from the domain (subsequently they have changed the domain admin accounts to where I no longer have access to that account).  The problem is that their security policies are still residing on my computer (including annoying Legal Notice among other things).  I am a local admin, but these policies are still locked.

How do I remove these policies?

Help!

Answer : SecPol on XP machine that I removed from Domain to workgroup

Sounds like something didn't take when you disjoined from the domain.  Did you get any errors (Start->Run->Eventvwr.msc)

You might try Start->Run->GPUPDATE /Force

Worse case, I think you can copy/rename your profile and create a new user account.
For instance, if you log in as BodeTech on your system, you'll have a C:\Documents and Settings\BodeTech folder.
Log in as the actual administrator or another user with admin rights to the machine.
Rename BodeTech to BodeTech.old under the D&S folder

From here, you can try logging back in as BodeTech.  It should rebuild your profile and you can simply copy the file(s) you need from the .Old folder (you may have to manually adjust some settings though).

If this fails, repeat but delete the BodeTech user and then recreate it, following the copy procedures to restore your profile's files...

Good luck!
