Question : How do I monitor MSA 1000 disk performance
|
|
Hi All,
I have an application server that is connected to MSA1000. The connection from the server to the MSA1000 is via a Fiber Optic cable to the controller located on the MSA (one 1 controller exist on MSA1000). User have complain that the response from the server slows down during peak hour because the number of request send to the application server was more than non peak hour. During peak hour I did check the CPU and the memory performance and it did not shows any surge on the util.
Additional information: CPU: 2 x dual core Mem: 2 GB Storage at MSA: 140GB SCSI (Application server stores data files and images here)
How do I check where is the bottleneck. How do i check the disk IO read/write for MSA1000. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Note the caveat in the first article, disk performance may be downgraded by having too little RAM so the server has to keep using the pagefile - but that's more likely to be a disk in your server rather than in the MSA1000. I'd add another 1GB, you can add 2GB but there is a PCI hole of .75GB on the G5 series Proliants and a .5GB hole on the G4s so you won't see more than 3.25GB normally.
