Question : Sharepoint Search Restarts Event Few Minutes

After reviewing the event logs on our MOSS 2007 server I found that the Application log was full of errors relating to the search.  It appears that the crawl is no longer succeeding.  The entries I get are as follows:

Description:
The search service started.

I get these four errors in series every few minutes.

I have restarted IIS and the Windows SharePoint Services Search.  I even went as far as turning off Office SharePoint Server Search and Windows SharePoint Services Search via Central Admin and then turning them back on again.  I found a suggestion on the web to verify the credentials for the account that is running the service.  The domain account is correct.  I also went into DCOM in Component Services and made sure the account had Local Launch and Local Activation set for the account on OSearch.

My actions have reset the search index, but I keep getting the errors during crawls.  My search count gets to around 1200 items before freezing (although the exact number is not consistent.)  I have not restarted the server as a whole yet (as that must wait until after-hours.)

Has anyone seen these symptoms before and have any advice as to how the search can be fixed?

Answer : Sharepoint Search Restarts Event Few Minutes

Have you had chance to restart SharePoint Timer Services, then reset index, then redo crawling?

Thanks.
