Question : Setting up an SMTP connector to go through my ISP's SMTP relay

Recently we had a server go down in our lab which had exchange 2003 setup on it and associated to it was a FQDN (different from our AD domain). It was sending e-mail through our ISP's SMTP relay. I remember this being fairly easy to setup and we are able to receive any and all e-mail just fine, but all mail is either being rejected or blocked (and not by the ISP).

I have tried to research this in EE but so far there hasn't been any real clear procedure on how to do this. What I have done so far is in ESM I right clicked on Connectors -> New -> SMTP Connector... I gave the connector a name, clicked the "forward all mail through this connector to the following smart hosts" and in the text area I put the smtp gateway for the ISP. I was forced to add a local bridgehead which is the exchange server using the Default SMTP Virtual Server.

So far e-mail that was going thru just fine is now getting bounced back. As a test I mispelled the ISP;s smtp relay and same result. I believe that I am sending these e-mails out thru exchange and not thru the ISP's relay. So...what am I doing wrong. Please help.

Answer : Setting up an SMTP connector to go through my ISP's SMTP relay

Okay figured out my own problem. It was in the SMTP settings under protocols.

Here's what I did:
-> Servers -> Protocols -> SMTP -> Default SMTP Virtual Server -> Right Click -> Properties -> IP Address -> Select the servers IP -> Delivery Tab  -> If Outbound Security is necessary click Outbound Security Button -> Enter Credentials (basic auth) -> OK -> Advanced button -> Masquerade Domain -> -> FQDN -> Smart Host -> -> OK -> Apply -> OK
