Question : Network Problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server Computer

The workstation is a P4clone running XPpro SP1.  It uses Outlook 2000.  The server is a Win2k SP4 box running Exchange 2000.

All of our workstations work great except for this particular one.  Everytime we configure the mail settings to connect to our Exchange Server, it give us this error:

"Network Problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server Computer"

Things we tried already:

- Login under a domain admin account.
- Redo the security permission on the local drive
- Tried several different mailbox users.  They work on another computer but not this particular one.
- Reinstalled Outlook 2000
- Checked TCP/IP settings, using static
- XPPro Firewall in not enable
- Removed and then added computer back to the domain
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats it for now.

Answer : Network Problems are preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server Computer

The only two things that I can see that you haven't tried is a different machine name and another network port (to rule out a physical connection issue).

Otherwise if it is just this one machine then I would just wipe the machine and start again. You have tried the usual quick steps that will resolve most problems. Is further troubleshooting a good use of your time?

Simon.
