Question : Migrating from Goldmine to Microsoft Exchange
|
|
Hello:
I saw this post on the sight:
"I'm looking for information about migrating from Goldmine to Microsoft Exchange. I have a client that uses Goldmine and they are considering getting off of Goldmine and moving to Microsoft Exchange (I could go into lots or reason and pros/cons but that's for another forum). We need to migrate emails, contacts and history. Does anyone know what would be involved, what tools are available or how I can get started researching this?"
Answer: Email is easy enough. Configure full Outlook to connect to the Goldmine POP3 server, suck the email out in to a pst file and then import that in to the mailbox.
My questions: 1) Does anyone have more info on this topic 2) How can this email workaround be done, more specifically, I don't quite understand what is needed.
Thanks,
Joseph

Unless they have changed something, Microsoft CRM still uses Outlook and Exchange. CRM installs a plugin to Outlook to manage the email messages. It is all tightly integrated with one another.
Goldmine is basically a POP3 server. There should be instructions around somewhere on how to connect Outlook to Goldmine. Once you have the connection in place, most email should come out.
However, I will confess that the last Goldmine to Exchange migration I was involved in, there was a specialist doing the CRM bit - I was there to do Exchange.
Simon.
