Question : Retrieve accidentally deleted file folder with data in safe mode in Win XP

How can I retrieve an accidentally deleted file folder with important data when in safe mode in Windows XP ?  A restart may not allow the computer to boot in normal mode, since we had a recent inability to reboot + had to repair in chkdsk.  I could pull all data off the hard drive, attempt to reboot in normal, and if it loads, perhaps find the deleted file folder in the recycle bin.  Please advise, thank you kindly.

I recommend that you hook up the drive as a slave to another system and then use an UnErase utility like FileRestore (http://www.winternals.com/Products/FileRestore/) to get your data back.  Afterwards, you can hook it back up in the original computer.  Other file utilities can be found here: http://www.experts-exchange.com/Hardware/Q_20900970.html
