Question : Can't see POP3 and IMAP4 features in user mailbox
|
|
hello
just installed a new Exchange 2007 server and would like to enable the IMAP4 and POP3 for user mailbox. We cannot start the POP3 service and just have this error in event log:
ID 7000: The Microsoft Exchange POP3 service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I think it was because i opened the file Microsoft.Exchange.Pop3.exe.config and saved it with notepad !
In second time, because pop3 is not working we tried to to it with imap4 but no more luck: I can't see the IMAP4 or POP3 feature in the user Mailbox features tab as shown here:

Just have Outlook Web Access / Enabled Exchange ActiveSync / Enabled Unified MEssaging / Disabled MAPI / Enabled
Do i have to do something to get the imap4 / pop3 in ?
also i've already setup the imap4 authentication to be plain text and in my Outlook client, i can connect the the mailbox but i can't see any email on my computer. But there are some in OWA.
Any help would be appreciated. Best regards

I don't know why the service won't start; but you don't see the per-mailbox settings until you install E2007 SP1. Without SP1, you need to enable the protocols usnig PowerShell.
