Question : Help !!!  Strange archive problem in Outlook 2007

Hi All Experts

outlook--2007

My issue is that a number of my email folders (read mainly sent items) wont archive.

The issue is, Im not keen on deleting them all, as I like to keep history, but my mail file keeps jumping up to 2GB which I assume is the limit, because as soon as it reaches that, it doesnt send/receive emails anymore until I make some space, and tells me I need to use SHIFT+DELETE to delete unwanted emails.
Note a number of my email files archive, but some dont including my sent items.

Ive tried to manually archive, and tried to let it do it automatically, with no luck. When I manually do it, it looks like it tries to do it, but doesnt archive anything.

Let me know what information I can provide you, and/or if there is a way I can set a larger email file to get around this in the short term, as I have to delete files every week to get under the limit, and this is not my preference.

Alternately, let me know if/how to manually move items to a completely different email file that I can still access, but takes the items out of my existing file. This may do for the short term.

Thanks

If Archiving isnt working for you, you can create a new Outlook Data File or personal folder to move the items into.
In Outlook, go to File>New>Outlook Data File>Office Outlook Personal Folder File (.pst)
Choose the location and name you would like to save the pst as, once saved it should give you an option to change the name from Personal Folder to something you may want it to display as in Outlook.

Keep in mind that if you are using a Personal Folder or .pst to save your email into, that you might want to store the .pst in a safe location where it can be regularly backed up.
