Question : Exchange 2007 is not recieving emails from external addresses but works fine with internal emails

Hi all

Since yesterday afternoon (now ive noticed), no emails from external sources for example hotmail.com have been recived by our exchange server and i dont know why. Internal email is still working as normal.

I think this has happened maybe once or twice in the past and i think the solution was to restart the 2 DCs, this was because we used to have very problematic core network switches, but they have been replaced now.

I have gone through the DCs event logs and the exchnages event logs but cant see anything which i think would be causing the problem. I have also restarted the DCs and the exchnage server in an attempt to resolve this but no luck.

I have also asked the ISP to check at their end to see if there is an issue there

If any one can advise of what i can try to work out whats going on and how to fix

Thanks

Answer : Exchange 2007 is not recieving emails from external addresses but works fine with internal emails

Hi David,

Yes I saw your mail, I need some information now.....

  • Where is this IP address ..... 82.xxx.xxx.15 , I am unable to reach it.
  • If this is at your ISP, please shout at them kill them and tell them it is unreable on Port 25.

Rest once I get this answer, do not make any changes to your Exchange server or anything, it has nothing to do there...

Cheers
Nitin
