Question : DNS redirect

hey folks

I have a web app that is accessed via web by typing in a simple server name http://server now the users are asking if we can create few other names to get to it, like say http://new name and leave the old name intact too (dont ask about this request)
all i do is create a CNAME record in DNS and I should be all set?
