Question : Reformatted PC needs drivers

I have an IBM ThinkCentre A51 8122 that I bought in 2006, but it never came with any recovery software.  I reformatted the computer with XP over the weekend, and so far the only software I've installed is SP2 for XP.  It would be nice to find a chipset for that particular model, but I'll settle for just the audio, display, and ethernet controller drivers.  Downloading and installing drivers off the Internet has to be one of the easiest tasks I've ever performed, however I've been working on this for two days now, and I'm losing my mind.  I desperately need my ethernet controller working so I can have my Internet up and running.  I called IBM support, and they are very unorganized.  I provided the correct product information, and they didn't even know what I was talking about.  I was transferred five times before I had to speak to a floor supervisor who was a little bit more helpful.  She referred me to lenovo.com and gave me three drivers that I needed to download.  I went to the website, typed the names of the drivers she gave me (audio MIGR-62635, ethernet MIGR-55821, and display MIGR-68782), found and downloaded the drivers to my thumb drive, transferred to my computer, and installed them.  This fixed nothing.  The device manager still shows that the drivers are missing, and when I try to update the drivers, they are not found on my computer.  I've followed detailed instructions, but I'm completely lost on this one.  I tried to find a chipset family for my computer with no luck.  I've been doing this for years with all kinds of drivers and never had a problem.  I can live without the other drivers, but I must have my ethernet driver so I can connect to the Internet on my home computer.  Anyone have any ideas about how to fix this?  I'm hoping it's a simple thing that I overlooked.  Thanks for any help!

Answer : Reformatted PC needs drivers

Glad the NIC drivers worked. I know that with audio, you need to install something else first... But for the life of me I cannot think what.

Hhhhhmmm... It's a system update, that part I know... Have you loaded the system drivers from your motherboard CD? DAMMIT!!! There is a driver you need to load before Realtek drivers work!

It might be the USB2 drivers...

Don't you have a SoundMAX chipset? That's what the site says....
