Question : footnotes with numbers and symbols on same page
|
|
I have a series of numbered footnotes in a document. On one page I have a footnote that I don't want to be part of the numbered sequence, i.e., I want to use an asterisk for that one note.
When I apply symbols instead of numbers to that footnote, the sequence numbers continue as though it had a number. For example, I get: 1 * 3
when I would like to see 1 * 2
I've experimented with both inserting sections and changing the continuous/restart numbering setting but haven't gotten the desired result. Suggestions?

Answer : footnotes with numbers and symbols on same page

Try deleting the * footnote and see if #3 changes to #2. If it does, you should be able to go back to your * footnote and then go Insert - Reference - Footnote and select your symbol. I've tried this several times and it seems to work.
