Question : Windows 7, Tools to check disk

Hi,

I am wondering what tools you guys are using for Windows 7 for disk management.  One of my disks has suddenly died - it is a 1.5 TB drive, which apart from 200gb of music and 70gb free space had Avi files on it.  when I open up My Computer or computer as it says in Win 7, it says it is unformatted and asks if I want to format it.  I think it is just a corrupt MFT or something similar.  Any suggestions?

Answer : Windows 7, Tools to check disk

if it is formatted as NTFS, the usual tools will suffice. However given the state of the drive, you may not get anything back.

Most sites allow a "trial" for you to see what you can get back, try each one by one and when you find something that looks to recover what you want, buy it.

However, for future reference, BACKUP! I too have lost a few Terabytes of data in my time, and nothing is more frustrating than "re-ripping" cd's ;)
