Question : Fedora Upgrade
|
|
Hi! I have a server running Fedora 6 i686. It's a live web/mail server with a number of vhosts. It also has cPanel/WHM installed.
Anyway, I don't have much experience with Fedora and wanted to ask if it can be easily upgraded via the net (like Debian's "apt get dist-upgrade"). I read in a few places that Fedora can also use apt-get, but it's my understanding that this isn't Fedora's standard package management tool. Can it be done using Yum?
I was told that upgrading Fedora can lead to unwanted complications, and that it would be much safer to do a complete re-install. Is this true?
Being as Fedora 6 isn't being maintained anymore and has reached its End-of-Life, I thought it would be a smart choice to upgrade. I was also told that I should stick with Fedora 6 if the server is functioning ok. What do you think?
