Question : Server is rebooting on a random basis
|
|
We are experiencing intermittent problems with one of our servers. Users are unable to access the server. We try and connect to the server remotely and we are unable to logon to the server, it is not accepting the domain password to logon to. We reboot the server and then we are able to logon. Please see event logs from DNS. I have run dcdiag and netdiag and they complete successfully on the server Event ID's 9999, 4015 and 4016
The DNS server timed out attempting an Active Directory service operation on DC=DC=,cn=MicrosoftDNS,DC=DomainDnsZones,DC=brighouse,DC=local. Check Active Directory to see that it is functioning properly. The event data contains the error.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
The DNS server has encountered a critical error from the Active Directory. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly. The extended error debug information (which may be empty) is "000020EF: SvcErr: DSID-0208017F, problem 5012 (DIR_ERROR), data -1090". The event data contains the error.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
The DNS server has encountered numerous run-time events. To determine the initial cause of these run-time events, examine the DNS server event log entries that preceded these run-time events. The data is the number of events that have been suppressed in the last 60 minute interval.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Answer : Server is rebooting on a random basis

Yes you can follow the procedure...I always follow it when ever i find some problem like this If you find some problem while remove active directory in this server, you can forcefully remove it. In this case, you have to use NTDSUTIL command at command prompt with help from Microsoft.Com to remove this Domain Controller from Active Directory Database. Then add again
