Question : Sharepoint?
I have never used share point before and one of my users would like an intranet setup that has employee manuals as well as job postings, would sharepoint be what I want to use ?
If so does each user get her or his own log in ?
How does licensing work/per user ?
Thanks
Answer : Sharepoint?
It all depends on how Sharepoint is set up in your environment, if at all. WSS is shipped free with Windows Server 2003 so you dont need to worry about licensing. SPS which is a "beefyer" version needs licensing but your best bet would be to contact Microsoft about it and explain your requirements.
Some of the great things Sharepoint has built in are its "lists". One of which is called "Sharepoint Announcements" - ideal for job postings, where you can set expiry dates etc. The other great thing about Sharepoint is what is called the "Document Library" which allows you to upload documents via your browser and have them displayed on an intranet page.
Sharepoint would certainly be your answer. Have a go at installing Windows Sharepoint Services (WSS) and create a document library and a list for job postings. More information can be found here:
