Question : Receive message "unable to initialize ASP.NET web extensions" during installation of Symantec Mail Security

This is a Win 2003 server 64bit o/s with Exchange 2007 installed. I'm trying to install Symantec Mail Security version 6, which fails the installation with the message: "Unable to initialize ASP.NET web extensions: installation failed" This message appears almost immediately after answering the prerequisite questions and pressing install.

I know its a bit late of a response, but I was unable to find a resolution for this myself. After playing with it a bit, and doing some more research on ASP and 64bit, I came across this article from MS. Very simple to fix, and worked for me!
