Question : HP oem vista downgrade to xp ghost image problems

Hi,

We have a set of xp machines from HP all with vista licence on top of the box we want to install XP with our VLK install goes through ok sysprep with answer file that we have had no problems with before, make image then when we restore image to another machine hangs with no OS found when image without sysprep gets to windows welcome screen and hangs.

The HP solution is to roll back with restore disc for every machine but this is not really a solution we can roll out.

is there any know issues with making a image with a hp vista machine downgraded to XP / what can be done / work around is there if any.

any help would be great.

Ahhh sorry for delay i tend not to log in much over the weekend and another apology for misreading the issue thought the image was amde on an xp machine initially and then attempted to transfer to a downgraded vista one. Ok so that change sthings immensley as it cant be an image issue.

instead of doing a roll back on the imaged machien with sysprep can you try running fixmbr from teh reovery console, it may be the boot record isnt being written properly, this should prove or disprove that theory
