Question : Does Google/Yahoo value meta keyword tags

We are researching Meta tag relevance for our Internet Marketing.  Our website is www.webfullcircle.com and I ran a test on www.seochat.com to test our meta tags.  What I got back was an error stating we did not have Meta Keyword Tags.  My employees told me for what ever reason Google/Yahoo do not value meta keyword tags.  Well I don't know why www.seochat.com would give me that error if that was true.  

Can anyone tell me what Meta Tags matter or we should be using to make sure we are doing what Google/Yahoo like?

Many companies and individual websites still use metatag keywords because the option is still available in DIY website builders. It's easy and there's a lot of value-add attached to it. But, since there are few barriers to entry for using a website element like this, you'll be competing against thousands of websites that use the same keywords. That's really the only reason why it would hurt your rankings.

Examples of sites where meta tags are still in use today:
schools, colleges, universities
non-profit orgs
professional and trade associations
broadcast radio
real estate portal sites and companies

Using tags won't help you with getting ranked any higher on the major search engines, but that also doesn't mean that it won't help at all with other search engine indexes that use different methodologies for spidering and indexing. It really depends on where your customers are coming in from.
